OUR HISTORY
Founded in 1878, SGS transformed the grain trade in Europe with innovative grain inspection services. In 1919 the company was registered in Geneva under the name Société Générale de Surveillance. The company's shares were first listed on the Swiss Stock Exchange (SWX) in 1981. Since 2001, the company has only registered shares.
Since 1878, when the Grain Cargo Inspection Company was founded, we have continually grown to become an industry leader. We owe this title to the continuous improvement, innovation, and service we provide to our clients to reduce their risks and improve productivity.
